Vers-Pont-du-Gard is a small village of 1800 inhabitants, nestled in the scrubland in the heart of the triangle formed by the cities of Nîmes, Uzès et Avignon. It has inherited the name of the prestigious Pont du Gard which is located on the territory of the town. The stone of Vers, exploited in the time of the Romans, which gives this beautifully ocher color to the facades of the houses, served for the construction of the aqueduct which went from the fountain of Eure in Uzès to Nîmes, and the construction of the Pont du Gard.
The village is also known for the quality of its wine, it produces "Coteaux du Pont du Gard" in the 200 hectares of vineyards.
